Boating

Currituck Heritage Park is a county owned public park. Located inside the park is a boat ramp for public use, and several slips for temporary docking. Please note the following rules & regulations:

  • Use of the boat ramp is available while the park is open (dawn to dusk year round).
  • NO overnight docking, or parking of vehicles and trailers is permitted.
  • There is NO charge to use the boat ramp or slips.
  • IMPORTANT: Please note that we are located on Currituck Sound which is a shallow body of water, which is mainly WIND DRIVEN, rather than tide driven. The water at the boat ramp is typically no more than 18”-24”, and this will depend heavily on wind direction. For example, if there is a strong north, north-east wind it is likely that there will be NO water at the ramp. We strongly encourage maritime adventurers to always check the local wind forecasts in addition to the radar, tide and depth charts.
