Weddings at Currituck Heritage Park

Currituck Heritage Park, located in Corolla, North Carolina, is situated upon 39 acres of pristine soundfront property and is the ideal setting for an outdoor wedding and reception on the Outer Banks. This historic waterfront setting offers plush expansive lawns, 80 year old Live Oak trees, and the historical Whalehead Club, Boathouse and Footbridge, which all come together to create one of the most breathtaking displays for your wedding. Your wedding album can include incredible photos with the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, gorgeous sunsets from the gazebo, or on the porch of the architectural masterpiece, The Whalehead Club.

The Whalehead Club, originally named "Corolla Island", was built in the 1920s and has been beautifully restored to its original grandeur. The architecture and design center around the natural beauty of the area and skillfully incorporates the elements of flora and fauna, and the flowing lines so intrinsic to Art Nouveau. The Whalehead Club, its Boathouse and the Footbridge are all listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The North Lawn, situated between the sound and historic boathouse, is an unforgettable location to exchange wedding vows.  This area features a soundfront gazebo that offers a lovely gathering place for a bride and her attendants. The historic bridge presents the bride to her waiting groom and guests in a naturally eloquent fashion. At the reception, guests mingle and raise a glass to toast the newlyweds as the sun slowly sets over Currituck Sound.

The South Lawn, near the front of the Whalehead Club, offers a picturesque, 180 degree, water view.  This lawn is more isolated and private and features a pond, typically inhabited by the resident Canada geese, and unobstructed views of the Currituck Sound.

Over 200 parking spaces are available in Currituck Heritage Park near clean public restrooms; however, parking is in an area allowing for pleasant scenery and perfect photo opportunities. Power is available on both the north and southeast lawns.
